Modern Plating Corporation
Receives General Motors' Approval for
Trivalent Tin Zinc Finish (GMW3200)

Modern Plating Corporation announced that the company has been approved by General Motors as an applicator for GM's Trivalent Tin Zinc finish (GMW3200.) Tin Zinc is the newest of the zinc alloys and offers excellent corrosion protection. It is often used as a replacement for cadmium due to its excellent conductivity and lubricity. Automotive companies throughout the world are replacing hexavalent chromates with trivalent chromates due to the carcinogen nature of hexavalent (Chrome VI) chromates.

Tin Zinc is gaining in popularity because of its excellent solderability and superior ductility. It is very often used in grounding applications.

Modern Plating is also an approved applicator of the Trivalent Tin Zinc finish for Daimler-Chrysler (PS8956E), Ford Motors (WSS-M1P95-A1/A2/A3/A4 and WSE-M1P93-A1/A2/A3/A4) and Visteon (VAM001-702GC.)

Modern Plating has worked with the world's leading chemical manufacturers in the development of trivalent chromates for Modern's full line of finishes including zinc, Zinc-Nickel, Zinc-Iron and Zinc-Cobalt.

Modern Plating is a 69-year old company specializing in electroplating for the transportation and other major industries.
